Baseball Fan - I played into college.  I like to watch almost any sport.

Soccer Coach - I have coached my daughter since she was 4. 

Woodworker - I have a shop in my garage, and I like wood carving. 

Occasional Cyclist - I would like to do more of this

ASHLEY C. ROSE

 Commander, USN

 

 

CDR Ashley Rose was born in Danville, KY and grew up in Southern New Jersey.  He graduated from Rutgers University in 1993 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.    He joined the Navy as a Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate, and was commissioned on 24 September 1993, following Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI.

 

As a junior officer, CDR Rose served aboard USS DALLAS (SSN 700) as Chemistry and Radiological Controls Assistant, Main Propulsion Assistant, and Operations Officer.  During his tour, DALLAS completed one Northern Atlantic deployment and nuclear refueling overhaul at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.  For shore duty, he was selected as the Flag Lieutenant for Commander Submarine Group Seven, Yokosuka, Japan.  After serving as aide, he was posted to the staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron Two, serving as N5 - Plans, Strike Warfare, and Submarine Operations for a Mediterranean deployment with the Harry S. Truman Battle Group.  During this deployment, CDR Rose served as Mediterranean Launch Area Coordinator. 

 

Following graduation from the Submarine Officer Advanced Course, CDR Rose served as Engineer Officer on USS JACKSONVILLE (SSN 699).  He went ashore for a brief tour at Commander, Naval Submarine Forces N8 working in warfare development and returned to sea as Combat Systems Officer on USS ALBUQUERQUE (SSN 706). Following his tour in ALBUQUERQUE, CDR Rose was transferred ashore to the Special Operations and Intelligence Directorate on the staff of Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.  CDR Rose was accepted for lateral transfer to Naval Intelligence in January of 2005. 

 

His first assignment as an Intelligence Officer was to the Office of Naval Intelligence serving as the Operations Officer for the National Maritime Intelligence Watch.  CDR Rose returned to sea duty as the Assistant Intelligence Officer on USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63), home ported in Yokosuka, Japan.  While serving on KITTY HAWK in June 2008, CDR Rose was awarded a Master’s of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.  Additionally, he assumed duties as KITTY HAWK’s Operations Officer and Deputy Decommissioning Coordinator.   CDR Rose is currently assigned to staff of US Fleet Forces in Norfolk, VA as the Networks and C4I requirements officer in the Capabilities and Resource Integration Directorate (N8). 

 

CDR Rose was assigned as the Join Staff J2 (Intelligence) Representative, and Defense Intelligence Agency Representative to U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York in March of 2012.  He advised the U.S. Permanent Representative on intelligence matters, including the Syrian Civil War, Syrian Chemical Weapons, S. Sudan Civil War, Russia – Ukraine Conflict, Congo, and other international issues around the world.  CDR Rose retired from active duty in New York in September 2015. 

 

He is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), and the Joint Staff Insignia.  CDR Rose is married to Lane Elizabeth Shea of Houston, TX. They have two daughters and two sons.  They reside in Westchester County, New York.
